What is a Haiku?

A haiku is a Japanese style of poetry that consists of three lines: the first line has five syllables, the second has seven syllables, and the third has five syllables. These poems are often about nature but can be about whatever piques your interest!

The 2021 Haiku Poetry Contest

Happy National Poetry Month! April is also the return of our popular poetry contest from last year. Submit your haikus by emailing your name, where you are sending in from, and of course your poem to [email protected] or by messaging us on Facebook or Instagram. We will share the submissions weekly on our website and social media, so check back often to see what others have written. The contest is open until April 30th and winners will be announced on Thursday, May 6th.
