Liz Rabideau, Executive Director

Liz Rabideau brings more than 25 years of leadership experience to her role as Executive Director of the Chatham Historical Society and the Atwood Museum, with a career that has spanned publishing, nonprofit leadership, and community engagement.

A significant portion of Liz’s professional life has been rooted in publishing. As co-founder of Rabideau Media Group, she helped build and lead a portfolio of Cape Cod lifestyle publications, including Chatham Magazine. Through this work, she developed a deep appreciation for the people, places, and traditions that define the region, while also shaping how those stories were shared with both year-round residents and seasonal audiences. Her experience also includes senior leadership roles in nonprofit organizations, where she has led initiatives in communications, development, and community engagement.

Across each chapter of her career, Liz has focused on strengthening organizations by increasing visibility, building meaningful connections, and creating opportunities for people to engage more deeply with a mission. Liz’s connection to the Cape extends beyond publishing. Her work with the Cape Cod Maritime Museum further strengthened her interest in how cultural institutions can serve as both stewards of history and active participants in community life. Her education at University of Michigan and UMass Boston focused on leadership, group dynamics, public policy, and sociology/social anthropology. All these areas of study continue to inform her approach to organizational leadership and community engagement.

In her role at the Atwood Museum, Liz is focused on building on the organization’s strong foundation, enhancing visibility, expanding engagement, and ensuring the Historical Society remains a welcoming and relevant resource for all who value the history and character of Chatham. Outside of her professional work, Liz enjoys spending time with her family, staying active, and being outdoors. She has a particular interest in home design and staging. Always curious, Liz has always been an avid reader who is always learning. She is a proud mom and grandmother, and a devoted dog mom to two energetic mini dachshunds who keep her on her toes.
