Adventures in History
Summer Program at the Atwood Museum!

Join us on Monday mornings – choose which class interests you
(3 different classes in July, repeated in August)

  • Toy Time Travel: What did children do for fun 200 years ago?  What were their playthings and pastimes?  Entertainment was simple, yet creative and rich with imagination.  Join us for a morning where the past comes to life through the play of children.  We’ll learn, we’ll play and we’ll even craft a few toys to take home.
  • Hats through Time: Why do people wear hats?  From functional to fashionable, each hat tells a unique story about the people who wore them the times in which they lived.  We will learn about the different hat styles and craft your own headwear.  Be sure to wear your hat to this fun morning even.
  • Young Colonial Gardners: Join us as we explore the Atwood garden which replicates a garden of the 18th century.  Identify plants, touch and feel, and work on planting a mini garden of plants you can take and grow at home.
