Gifts of many kinds are welcomed by the Society; both monetary and "in kind". They may be in the form of gifts restricted to an appropriate purpose within the scope of the Society's and its Museum's work. Gifts in honor or memory of any person or organization are also gratefully received; as are matching gifts from corporations or organizations that choose to encourage the charitable interests of their employees or associates. In addition to monetary gifts of checks and cash the Society welcomes appreciated securities, fully paid life insurance policies and a variety of other gifts including those made during one's lifetime or thereafter.

The Chatham Historical Society, Inc. is recognized by the U.S. Treasury Department's Internal Revenue Service under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Its Federal tax exempt number is 04-6045540. Gifts to the Society are deductible as provided in Federal Income Tax regulations and also as provided in the laws of and regulations of some states. The Society urges you to consult your attorney or accountant for current tax information as a well as for its applicability and suitability in view of your present and personal circumstances.

The Society's Honor and Memorial Gifts Program provides a lasting and meaningful way to mark important occasions for family members, friends and other Society Members. A coupon book is provided. Gifts can honor birthdays, anniversaries and other occasions. Similarly, memorial gifts offer relatives and friends a dignified and thoughtful way to honor the memory of a loved one while furthering the important work of the Society and its Atwood House Museum.

The process is simple and short:
• Please fill out one of the forms in the book and mail with your check
• Upon receipt, the Society's Gift Coordinator will mail a suitable card following the instruction you provided on the form
• The Society will acknowledge your gift for tax purposes and send you a new booklet of forms when needed. All gifts will be applied to the ongoing operations of the Society and the Atwood House Museum, aided at informing and educating present and future generations about the history and culture of Chatham and vicinity.
